Real denim is cotton, and a lot of brands quietly cut it with polyester or elastane to save money and add stretch. Aritzia's Denim Forum workwear shirt jacket does not. It is all cotton, body and all, which is why it earns our top grade. Cotton denim breathes, softens at the elbows and cuffs over time, and fades the way only natural fiber does. At about 89 dollars it is the priciest piece in this edit, but you are paying for honest fabric in a layer you will reach for constantly, and that is the part most labels skimp on.
Good to know
- Machine washable, but wash cold and skip high heat to protect the color and keep all-cotton denim from shrinking.
- All cotton means no stretch, so it will feel structured at first and break in with wear rather than give right away.
