Loft built this Perfect Ribbed Scoop Neck Tank from 92 percent cotton and 8 percent elastane, which is why it lands a C rather than a cleaner grade. The cotton carries the piece, so it breathes and softens with wear, and the small dose of elastane is what gives a ribbed tank its snug, springs-back fit. Eight percent stretch is more than a basics-purist wants, but it is honest cotton at heart, not a polyester blend dressed up as one. At ten dollars and change it is one of the least expensive things we have graded, and for that price you are getting real cotton with a little engineered stretch, not filler.
Good to know
- Machine washable, but wash cold and skip high heat, since cotton can shrink and heat is hard on elastane over time.
- The 8 percent elastane is petroleum based and the reason this is a C, not an A or B. It buys the close fit, so it is a fair trade if you want a tank that hugs.
- At just over ten dollars, the value is easy: cotton-forward fabric at a price most blends cannot match.
