A peplum top that keeps its shaping in the cut, not the fabric.
A side-tie peplum usually hides a little stretch to hold its shape, so we were glad to see Lou & Grey skip the shortcut here. This top is all cotton, which means it breathes, softens with every wash, and shapes itself through the cut and the tie rather than a few percent of plastic. At 22.93 dollars it sits at the honest end of Loft's range: a styled cotton top for the price most labels charge for a cotton-poly one. The fabric is the part worth paying for, and it is the part they got right.
Good to know
- Machine washable, but wash cold and tumble dry low, since all-cotton can shrink with heat.
- No elastane means the peplum holds its line through the tie and the cut, not through stretch, so cotton may relax a touch through the day rather than snap back.
- Just over twenty dollars for a pure-cotton styled top is a fair price, not a splurge.
