A Short Sleeve Cotton Workhorse
Uniqlo's broadcloth shirt is all cotton at a price that does not flinch.
Broadcloth is the tight, smooth cotton weave that gives a button-up its crisp hand, and Uniqlo kept this one honest: 100 percent cotton, no polyester hiding in the weave to fake a wrinkle-free finish. That all-cotton body is why it earns an A, our top grade, reserved for pure natural fiber with no synthetics and no stretch. At 49.90 dollars it sits at the upper end of Uniqlo's shirting, but you are paying for real cotton in a short sleeve cut you can wear through summer, and that breathes the way plastic blends never will. No filler, just the fabric a good shirt should be made of.
Good to know
- The label says machine wash cold, but also lists dry clean, so wash cold and you can skip the cleaner; pure cotton can shrink with heat, so air dry or tumble low.
- Crisp broadcloth wrinkles, since it is all cotton with no synthetic to hold a press; expect to iron it or wear the creases as part of the look.
- Around 50 dollars is a fair ask for an all-cotton shirt, more than Uniqlo's bargain tees but exactly where the fabric quality lands.
Why it earns an A
- 100% natural fiber (100% cotton) with no synthetics, elastane, or regenerated cellulose.
The exact composition
We grade the body or shell, the fabric you actually wear. Synthetic linings or trims are shown here but do not change the grade.
